Honestly, I don't even like DC, never really did, but one thing I can say is that Wonder Woman was the F***ing S***. Yeah. But DC has decided that Princess Diana needs a father. For those of you who knows about classical mythology, Wonder Woman (Princess Diana) is an Amazon princess. According to mythology, the Amazons were a group of Diana's followers who lived in a woman centered society separate from men, there are myths on breeding, hierarchy, etc. According to Wonder Woman's back story, she doesn't have a father only a mother who brought her to life. However, DC has rewritten Wonder Woman's back story to include a father: Zeus. Yeah, that guy. You know the one who rapes just about everyone. Oh DC. You couldn't have made it Vulcan?
So this is the original origin as created by William Marston. For those of you curious there is a lot going on in the Wonder Woman comics: discussions of bondage and feminism. In fact a friend of mine is a big fan of Wonder Woman and talks on the watering down of Wonder Woman over the decades.
I would argue the watering down culminates in this new version of Wonder Woman.
