Democratic Debate

I’m going to keep this brief. No one cares about Webb or Chafee. O’Malley isn’t going to be the nominee, but he’s trying really hard for Veep. Now, Clinton and Bernie. I’m team Bernie all the way. But there was one moment when Clinton owned and no one can dispute that.

Take a minute and bask in that. And that children is what a boss looks like. Love Clinton or hate her, you can’t argue with her power and style. And while we’re on the subject, someone on Twitter last night asked if there would be so many men on stage if Clinton were a man with her experience. I think we all know the answer to that. See above.

One of my favorite moments was when Bernie went all Oprah, you get an education, you get an education, you get medical care, and you get social security. Then of course calling for a political revolution only to have cold water thrown on his fire by Webb.

Now time to invoke 702, where my girls at? Because really where was the discussion on women’s issues. I mean paid leave, but it wasn’t framed as a women’s issue just as we’re the only nation of our stature that doesn’t do this already, shame, shame, shame. But no one mentioned how women are punished for taking the unpaid leave over the course of their career through lower pay and straight up discrimination. The stories I could tell about women lying about pregnancies in order to get jobs. No one mentioned how paid leave will impact low income single mothers either. Also, I have zero fucks to give about fathers’ telling their daughters they can be president, and I don’t care about your immigrant wife. I care about women, who are autonomous people with thoughts, opinions, and value not associated with men. Choice is under fire, and we’re asking about Snowden? How about making each of those politicians say they support a women’s right to choose regardless of the circumstances?

End scene.
