So, as it turns out, I'm getting pretty into gardening, which is somewhat of a surprise for several reasons. First, I hate being outside in the heat. Second, there is the good chance that while gardening, one encounters bugs. And finally, I've never actually even tried container gardening indoors to know if I'm even any good at it.
Well, things change I guess because I just spent the ENTIRE day outside in the heat digging and planting and being near bugs, and you know what? It was extremely satisfying. And this is no fluke people. I spent the entire day doing the same thing last Wednesday as well.
Today I went with a friend to his mother's house and pillaged her garden for flowers and plants, which we then brought back to my yard and planted all around. She is getting ready to move so they'll just be mowing over her garden and I was able to take almost anything I wanted with the exception of the flowers she had on her wedding day and the flowers she planted after her mother died (seems fair to me!). Anyway, my entire backyard is filled with plants that are really going to look amazing next spring. I absolutely can not wait. I would still be out there now weeding if it wasn't getting so darn dark out. I've actually found myself going outside daily each evening to water the plants and pull some weeds from around them, which I never imagined myself doing.
Too bad there isn't a Julia Child of gardening or I could take this up as my new project, ha. Hopefully I'll be able to add some pictures of the flowers I have now, but most of them are at the end of their life since it's August and they're not very pretty. It's really the roots I care about at this point, but that wouldn't be too exciting to post a bunch of pictures of roots.
