Leave Jane Austen Alone You Jerks!

I read this a few days ago, but then became distracted by shiny things. Apparently, someone thought it would be a good idea to rewrite Pride and Prejudice. The new book, Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, was written by Seth Grahame-Smith. I absolutely hate everything about this idea, and the I read the expert. I am dumbfounded by the fact the Elizabeth Bennett is armed and considering killing Mr. Darcy after meeting him. Read and listen at NPR.org.

I get that people mess around with the classics for the sake of post-modern art, but seriously...ninjas. I think a more interesting way to do this would be going in a more Frankenstein direction. Take the original text and slice in our text, thus provoking the same feelings or in the very least similar feelings. Also, don't change the characters...leave them alone! Put Elizabeth Bennett in a situation with zombies, but don't make her a ninja. Make her out smart them and find her own abilities like in the original novel.
