California's Prop 8 Overturned!

I'm sure this isn't the last we're going to hear about this, but what the hell. A federal judge overturned the ban on gay marriage today. This could lead to the U.S. Supreme Court having to hear a case on whether gays and lesbians can marry. Chief U.S. District Judge Vaughn Walker rejected the arguments presented by the sponsors of the marriage ban. Naturally, conservative and religious groups are are organizing an appeal for the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals. Judge Walker found that the ban violated due process ad equal protection clauses by singling out gay men and lesbians and denying them marriage licenses. This ruling doesn't mean gay marriages can start back up in California; Judge Walker is allowing both sides to submit arguments on whether his order should be suspended until the proponents of Prop 8 purse their appeal.

This is Beautiful

I saw this on current.com: Keith Olberman speaks out against the passage of Proposition 8. The man puts it beautifully. He mentions interracial marriage, the inability of slaves to marry, and the hypocrisy of religions prohibiting marriage.

Apple and Google Come Out Against Proposition 8

I just read that Apple has made donations against Proposition 8 on Current.com. Proposition 8 hopes to define marriage as between a man and a woman, which will end same-sex marriage in California. Apple joins Google to fight Proposition 8. It is not common for these companies to take stands on political measures, and so far no word on the reaction of Proposition 8 supports. Speculation is they may avoid doing business with these companies.
