Why Fair Trade? Why not? Fair Trade means several things, but essentially the simplistic answer is fair trade is a workers’ rights issue, and workers’ rights are human rights. The key principles here: empowering producers and promoting sustainability.
1. Workers deserve a living wage
2. The workers should have access to the marker
3. Equal and sustainable relationships
4. These relationships empower the producers
5. Consumer awareness of workers’ rights and environmental concerns.
Buying fair trade products is better for the workers, the environment, and of course you.
