Fr. Roy Bourgeois participated in the ordination of a woman and a mass in 2008 in Lexington, Kentucky in 2008. The press release claims the Holy See and the Maryknoll Society have encouraged his reconciliation with the Catholic Church. I like to imagine Fr. Roy doing that not impressed meme when this was happening.
The press release continues to say this:
"Instead, Mr. Bourgeois chose to campaign against the teachings of the Catholic Church in secular and non-Catholic venues. This was done without the permission of the local US Catholic Bishops and while ignoring the sensitivities of the faithful across the country. Disobedience and preaching against the teachings of the Catholic Church about women's ordination led to his excommunication, dismissal and laicization."Fr. Roy did make his own decisions about all of this, and as far as I'm concerned he choose correctly. The Maryknolls are sending him warm wishes and thanks for his service. I've never been very faithful, but I have nothing, but respect for this man. He is an inspiration and a revolutionary. The Catholic Church and Bishops are purging the likes of him from their rolls, no wonder the Catholic Church is hemorrhaging members and completely out of touch with reality.
