Why Won't This Woman Leave?

You know that girl who is the last to leave the party? Sarah Palin is that girl. She is at it again reminding us all how the media was basis again little old her. Of course, she is waiting to see how he media is going to treat Caroline Kennedy in her quest for the New York Senate seat. Palin believes Kennedy will get a free pass because of "class" basis. It wouldn't be because the Kennedy family members are in front of the media from birth. The media can only deal with what they are given, and Kennedy was conditioned for it. After Kennedy announced she was interested in the seat the media was all over it. Talking about how she shouldn't get it, but face it Kennedy isn't going to give the media what Palin did.

Questions for Sarah

This is actually brilliant; over at Jezebel, they complied a list of the things they would like to ask Sarah Palin.  If only...anyone else thinking this should be a talk show?  The questions over the ridiculous to the very serious such as charging rape victims for rape kits.  I'd add a few more like why in God's name did she name her kids the way she did.  What are her feelings on executive orders?  And of course what constitutes as God opening a window?

Bitch and Ditz

I think New York Magazine got this right.  Hilary Clinton and Sarah Palin reinforced gender stereotypes about women.  For good or bad, whatever you may think of either of them.  Hilary gets to be the bitch which sets her up for a fall, and Sarah looks like a ditz which means she is no threat.  So what does this mean: be a threat and be a failure or be no threat and still be a failure.  Don't get me wrong I stand by previous statements about these two having limited things in common.  It is just an interesting argument for women in politics.  Obama won, and defied racial stereotypes in the process.  The argument is that for a woman to do the same she will have to defy stereotypes as well.  Unfortunately neither Hilary or Sarah does.

Excuse me?

Apparently Sarah Palin believes her and Hilary Clinton fell from the same feminist tree...Because you know they are both women, married, political, and have kids.  After all they have nothing else in common.  They couldn't be farther away on issues that actually matter like reproductive rights, labor, foreign policy, and everything else.  I guess Sarah Palin is the kind of person the Republican Party was targeting with her nomination for VP: people who believe two women are interchangeable just because they are women.

Seriously...

So it's official: the right has criticized Sarah Palin to the point where the left can't believe it.  We don't even like her!  The Daily Show last night introduced Sarah Palin is so dumb... jokes.  Hopefully this will be an ongoing skit on the show, but who knows.  I just thought I would point out Fox News broke this story with an "unnamed McCain aide."  I think the "unnamed" are as sketchy as the next person, but seriously...the conservative press is going after her as a scapegoat.  Wonder if that was in the "what a VP does" handbook?

Oh Joe...

Yep, it was bound to happen soon or later, and it looks like it is going to be sooner.  Senator Joe Liberman will be having "the talk" with Senate Majority Leader, Harry Reid.  I can't help but agree with Wonkette; Liberman needs a good ass kicking from Obama and the state of Connecticut.  The entire time I wanted the election coverage on Tuesday night I was never as angry as I was then Liberman was on the McCain plane behind McCain (this includes the petty, ridiculous McCain/Palin followers who booed during McCain's speech).  I get that Liberman is an Independent, and I like the idea of a third party system.  However, those of us who supported Liberman during his Veep nomination in 2000 feel betrayed.  Technically the McCain/Palin campaign until the end was appealing to the conservative base...who support G.W.; you remember him Joe...the guy you ran against in 2000.  A swift ass kicking is in order, and it will be less painful from Obama than the state of Connecticut.

Oh, you!

Ok this is just too funny to pass up cross-posting from Jezebel.com

Not a post about Halloween Costumes

Sarah Palin spoke at Lakewood Park this morning and I was initally a little upset that she was desecrating the place where my fiance and I want to get married until I read the comments on this little article. I am really surprised that she was speaking in Lakewood at all when I heard it on the news last night and I'm glad to know I wasn't the only one. Fun fact: Lakewood, OH is the most densely populated city between New York and Chicago and a large amount of those residents are gay. I wonder if anyone showed up to the rally.

Just Caught Part of a McCain/Palin Rally

Via television of course...I didn't however get to watch long enough for the hate speech, maybe next time.  I just noticed the transcript rolling across the bottom of the screen.  In the two minutes I watched I saw P.O.W. twice, and Obama at least a half dozen times.  Palin would like to hear Obama say he wants to win the Iraq War because we are close to winning...I guess in Alaska they're showing a different war.  I could have sworn we have been at war for upwards of seven years with no end in sight.  Unless of course you count Obama's gradual troop removal stance?  This is not a winnable war: this is a civil war, and one we shouldn't be in.  I know that's an old argument, but a true one.  We shouldn't have been there to begin with, and now we shouldn't be there because it is a civil war.

History lesson: the Cold War foreign policy we had didn't work then and won't work now.  I having a military presence or bankrolling a country is not going to make them your friend...usually it makes them your enemy...

I'm not saying jump ship; we have done too much damage to do that.  But I do think we can begin making this the Iraq peoples war.  I saw earlier this week we turned over another province to the Iraq government, give them the rest, and shift financial responsibility from the U.S. to the Iraq government's surplus.

Giggles...

Really what will I do when this is all over? Check out Maureen Dowd's "For Your Consideration," found in the New York Times of course, leftist, liberal, media.  It is a "draft" of The Maverick Wears Prada.  It is completely brilliant particularly the lines about pinko liberal friends, McCain getting weirded out by Palin, and of course find Joe Lieberman.  Here I thought Joe had come back to the fold...

Of course I hate Palin for not having an abortion

We need to stop that woman from procreating. This actually leads me back to why I can't wrap my mind around Conservatives being against abortion after all these poor, minority women are going to give birth to poor, minority children, and if these kids make it through adolescents then they will of course vote liberal. Thus they are helping us create more liberals...but I digress.

Wonkette.com picked up this gem yesterday. According to the the National Review Liberals hate Palin for not having an abortions(I actually think this is plural, but I'm not sure than makes sense), because we all do...and of course we do. All the rest of her kids are so awesome; we don't want too many productive members of society.

As one of those liberals I would like to point out a woman's right to choose is her right, and if a woman chooses to make her child's like difficult by giving birth to it then more power to you. Most kids grow up to hate their parents anyway. My best thoughts to Trig Palin for a couple reasons: 1. his family, and 2. special needs kids face a lot of problems and they may not even know what those are yet. Some special needs kids end up living miserable lives, and I hope people don't forget that then they're talking about liberals loving abortions. That is a difficult decision to make and whatever the decision it should be respected.

Palin in the future...

I don't know about you, but the idea that Palin could run for president scares the hell out of me. I had to find this on the web because me roomie and I were having a disagreement about the degree of crazy Palin is...Apparently my roomie didn't know Palin had changed her opinion on a federal ban on gay marriage. More differences of opinions between McCain and Palin.

Best Week Ever?

I saw this on Best Week Ever. With advertising like this the RNC can give Sarah Palin 150 thousand dollars. It is important to note both shirts are pro-Palin; yes pro-Palin not pro-McCain/Palin. And yes, there is a difference.

Shopping and Palin Again

I need to express my love for Sarah Maddow and Jon Stewart, as though you didn’t already know. Two of my favorites tackle Palin and the 150 thousand dollar shopping spree. I think Maddow gets it right when she says, “It kind of makes me want to be a maverick too.” According to Maddow, the RNC does not discuss spending as it relates to strategy, and then she goes on to discuss Palin’s ever changing Alaskan expense reports.
As for Stewart, he hits the nail on the head when he calls the Palin family grifters. According to Stewart the hot one finds an old victim, and then seduces him with her everyman talk. The old fool pulls out the checkbook and then out of nowhere the relatives.

I think my whole outfit today costs less than $60...

Ok, I guess I’ll comment on the 150 thousand dollar Palin-shopping spree. I concede you have to dress the part, and if meeting with world leaders you should look like one. However, when running on the campaign of “Everyman” maybe you should tone it down a bit? Just me? Wonkette did a little something looking at the conservative spin on the Obama’s because you know they spent their own money on their clothes.

“Wrong Kind of Feminists” Unite!

This is why when trying to fend off people asking for money on the street who begin with “Do you like children?” I always respond with “I’m one of those liberal baby killing feminists.”

After reading Jezebel.com, I once again learned something about myself from the GOP: real feminist vote for Sarah Palin. Wait, is Sarah Palin running for President because I thought people should be voting for McCain/Palin or Obama/Biden? Silly, uninformed me.

F you Palin and F you GOP: according to Palin women aren’t feminist unless they vote for her, and according to McCain Palin is the answer to the liberal feminist agenda. Well, I kind of agree with McCain on this one…Palin is the farthest person from a feminist. NEWSFLASH: HAVING A VAGINA DOES NOT MEAN YOU ARE A FEMINIST!!! It means you are a woman. I refuse to vote for a woman because she is a woman. I will vote for a woman who’s policies I agree with.

I’m not even going to touch the lines about the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act. I have had the privilege of meeting Lilly, and listened to her when she endorsed Obama. She is currently traveling with Michelle Obama. I will remind readers, as the article does, that Obama and Clinton made it back to the Senate to vote on the Ledbetter Fair Pay Act, and McCain found it so important he didn’t show up. Of course the article also mentions the Rachel Maddow clip, which is an earlier post from today.

But a question for the GOP and its leaders: Does this mean all black people who don’t vote Obama aren’t black? I’m just want everyone to get on the same page, and god help those of us who identify as more than a single aspect of ourselves...what about black women?

Giggles Part II

I just say this on feministing.com. I also would like to profess love for Rachel Maddow. By now you all know how much I love when people tell me what to think, but I have to say I'm relieved that two conservative males are letting me know what feminists think about Sarah Palin. Feminist hate happy women, working women, etc...I get it now feminists hate women.

Message for Sarah Palin

On www.feministing.com, I saw this amazing video. It is called a message for Sarah Palin.

Conservative Dudes

Ok, I am right there with Kate Harding. I like that men are ready to let women lead, but it is Sarah Palin we’re talking about and all the “yes women are getting there” goes right out the window when you think about what this actually means: abortion, ethics, the environment, etc. The “Palin men” are voting for the gender stereotypes we all know and equally hate and love. Take a history lesson, women got the vote by playing up motherhood, but it is time to give that argument up. Palin’s sex-drive won’t get in the way when she leads…the woman has five kids. Yes, ladies and gentlemen she probably has a strong, healthy sex-drive. My favorite part was about the post-it-note after all I have the same one.

Oh Campaign Season

My biggest pet peeve right now is the unsubstantiated rumor millers of presidential campaigns. So here’s the deal when I post about candidates I try to supply a link of some sort to back up my facts, but I have noticed a few others do not. A friend of mine is telling me all these “bad things” a specific candidate has done or whom he is affiliated with. I’m like ok, I’ll look into it. Then amazingly enough I have extensive difficultly finding her facts. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but it is starting to annoy me…I mean I’m getting rumors from every conservative, and my personal favorite is that Obama is a terrorist because someone he spoke to once at an event (This American Life 10/12), made donations, and was a radical in the 60s. Then anytime someone (me) mentions the report released this weekend about Palin I get more rumors, but this time about the trooper, and again no links.

I’m just getting frustrated. I can’t wait for the election to be over after all I voted over the weekend.
